The War Horse

From director Steven Spielberg comes “War Horse,” an epic adventure for audiences of all ages. Set against a sweeping canvas of rural England and Europe during the First World War, “War Horse” begins with the remarkable friendship between a horse named Joey and a young man called Albert, who tames and trains him. When they are forcefully parted, the film follows the extraordinary journey of the horse as he moves through the war, changing and inspiring the lives of all those he meets—British cavalry, German soldiers, and a French farmer and his granddaughter—before the story reaches its emotional climax in the heart of No Man’s Land.

The First World War is experienced through the journey of this horse—an odyssey of joy and sorrow, passionate friendship and high adventure. “War Horse” is one of the great stories of friendship and war— a successful book, it was turned into a hugely successful international theatrical hit that is arriving on Broadway next year. We Bought A Zoo

We Bought A Zoo is a funny, inspiring and true story about the magical power of family to persevere in face of extraordinary challenges.  When Benjamin Mee (Matt Damon) decided to uproot his family and move them to an unlikely new home—a dilapidated zoo where more than 200 exotic animals would be their new neighbors—his friends and colleagues thought he was crazy. Mee’s dream was to refurbish the zoo and run it as a family business. The grand reopening was scheduled for spring, but there was much work to be done and none of it easy for the novice zookeepers. Tigers broke loose, money was tight, the staff grew skeptical, and family tensions reached a boiling point.

Then tragedy struck. Katherine (Scarlett Johansson) Ben’s wife, had a recurrence of a brain tumor, forcing Benjamin and his two young children to face the heartbreak of illness and the devastating loss of a wife and mother. But inspired by the memory of Katherine and the healing power of the incredible family of animals they had grown to love; Benjamin and his kids resolved to move forward, and today the zoo is a thriving success.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Robert Downey Jr. reprises his role as the world's most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes, and Jude Law returns as his friend and colleague, Dr. Watson, in “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.”

Sherlock Holmes has always been the smartest man in the room…until now. There is a new criminal mastermind at large—Professor James Moriarty (Jared Harris)—and not only is he Holmes' intellectual equal, but his capacity for evil, coupled with a complete lack of conscience, may give him an advantage over the renowned detective.

Around the globe, headlines break the news: a scandal takes down an Indian cotton tycoon; a Chinese opium trader dies of an apparent overdose; bombings in Strasbourg and Vienna; the death of an American steel magnate… No one sees the connective thread between these seemingly random connective thread between these seemingly random events—no one, that is, except the great Sherlock Holmes, who has discerned a deliberate web of death and destruction. At its center sits a singularly sinister spider: Moriarty.

Holmes' investigation into Moriarty's plot becomes more dangerous as it leads him and Watson out of London to France, Germany and finally Switzerland.

But the cunning Moriarty is always one step ahead, and moving perilously close to completing his ominous plan. If he succeeds, it will not only bring him immense wealth and power but alter the course of history.

Filmmaker Guy Ritchie returned to direct “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,” the follow-up to the smash hit “Sherlock Holmes". The sequel also reunited producers Joel Silver, Lionel Wigram reunited producers Joel Silver, Lionel Wigram, Susan Downey and Dan Lin. Bruce Berman and Steve Clark-Hall served as executive producers.

In her first English-speaking role, Swedish actress Noomi Rapace, who gained international attention in the Swedish film “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” plays a mysterious Gypsy named Sim, who becomes allied with Holmes and Watson in their quest to stop Moriarty. Jared Harris (TV's “Mad Men,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”) joins the cast as the notorious Professor Moriarty. Stephen Fry (“Alice in Wonderland,” “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”) plays Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock's decidedly eccentric older brother.

Returning from the first film, the cast also includes Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler; Kelly Reilly as Watson's bride, Mary Morstan; Eddie Marsan as Watson's bride, Mary Morstan; Eddie Marsan as Inspector Lestrade; and Geraldine James as Holmes's long-suffering landlady, Mrs. Hudson.

“Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” was written by Michele Mulroney & Kieran Mulroney. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson were created by the late Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and appear in stories and novels by him.

The Descendants

Filmed in Oahu, Hawaii, this film stars George Clooney, Shailene Woodley and Amara Miller. Clooney is Hawaiian land baron Matt King whose wife met with a boating accident and is now in a coma. This workaholic of a man now has his life in disarray not only because of his wife's condition but also he discovers that his wife is having an affair before the accident.
He also has to deal with his daughters Scotti (Miller) who is 10 years old and teenager Alexandra (Woodley) who are both rebellious and hard to talk to.
As a family man, Clooney gives a superb performance showing his vulnerability, strength, anguish and anger.
This film is not the typical I-have-to-connect-with-my-family but instead it throws in different perspective that makes a drama. Director Alexander Payne has done an great job in making this film a must see.

Shame

British artist, Steve McQueen, directs this film about Brandon (Michael Fassbender) who is a sex addict. Outwardly charming and confident, Brandon is soon exposed as a casualty of a bull-market culture where sex has been traded so heavily, so easily and in so many exotic flavours that the consumer has gorged himself sick.
Then his sister, Sissy (Carey Mulligan) moves in with him and had a stand with Brandon's boss, Dave (James Badge Dale). Sissy is a club singer and is in the same bad club as his brother.
This show is provocative, sensual, something which tugs at your emotion.

Hugo

Martin Scorsese directs Hugo and it's available in 3D. This movie got raving reviews from reviewers at IMDb and Roger Ebert himself.
Hugo (Asa Butterfield) is a boy who lives at a Paris train station after his father passed away. His father (Jude Law) was a clock maintenance guy in this train station. After his death, his uncle (Ray Winstone) made him work there. Abandoned by his uncle to live – literally – inside a gigantic clock beneath an ominously large pendulum, Hugo steals in order to survive, which brings him into conflict with one of the station’s stallholders, bad-tempered toymaker Georges (Ben Kingsley), though Hugo manages to make friends with Georges’ orphaned niece (Chloe Grace Moretz).
Hugo now wants to finish his father's work of a robot-like mechanism. Together, he and Chloe go through his father's notes and also her library to get it done.
This movie with is a must watch as it mixes brilliance, happiness, somberness and nostalgia under one roof.

Arthur Christmas

If a theme has been played again and again in more movies than you can count, then it's overplayed and the movie will be not entertaining. This is what happens in Arthur Christmas where it's about Santa who has to deliver presents at super sonic speed to kids all over the world. This CGI suggests that Santa has lots of elves on a military plane commandered by his elder son Steve. His younger brother Arthur, however, is kept in the mailroom as he tends to be not much of an organiser.
So, it happens that all kids must get their presents on Christmas eve except for this particular day where a girl has been missed out. Then it's up to Arthur, his grandfather and an elve to show that Santa cares.
I think this is a great story only if you don't tire of santa and his elves.

The Muppets

The Muppets opened in the theatres at $29.5m and currently standing at number 2 in the movies' list. (IMdB Chart: Top Movies). It stars Kermit the Frog, Gonzo the Great, Fozzie Bear, Miss Piggy and Animal. Now, they have disbanded for many years each living their own lives. Kermit lives in his own mansion depressed in Hollywood, Gonzo is a high class plumber at Gonzo's Royal Flush, Fozzie performs with a tribute band called The Moopets , Miss Piggy is the plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, and Animal is at a celebrity anger management rehab.
Their fans, Walter, his brother, Gary and Gary's girlfriend finds out that an oilman Tex Richman is going to tear down the Muppet Theatre. Walter being a very avid Muppets fan wants to stop Tex's plan. He comes out with a plan for the muppets to come together again to perform in order to raise funds to buy back the theatre. Hence, Kermit the Frog is sought with this goal in mind.
This is a very entertaining show as those who had seen the muppets on television ages ago will relive the entertainment each muppet brings to him or her. Their singing and dancing make you want to join along.
So, what are you waiting for? Head for the nearest theatre!

Happy Feet Two

Happy Feet returns with the son of Mumble (voiced by Elijah Wood), Erik (voiced by Ava Acres having problems with dancing. See, Mumble is also the Master of Tap. So, Erik ran away and met The Mighty Sven (voiced by Hank Azaria), a penguin which flies. Son naturally prefers the penguin that can fly to his dancing father. All the other penguins are looking up to The Mighty Sven as he is persuasive talkative nature.
Robin Williams voiced hippy penguin Ramon, who now takes a backseat to just trying his best to romance fellow penguin Carmen (Sofia Vergara). There's also Brad Pitt and Matt Damon voice overs for Krills, Will and Bill respectively. They provide good jokes for the show besides the dancing and singing from those Happy Feet.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn : Part 1

Harry Potter has done it, now the Twilight Saga is following suit. This is the first part of a 2-parter which will see the end of the Twilight Saga franchise.
Edward and Bella, played Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, have decided to get married. Bella has made her decision. She will go into the bridal ceremony, one that she has kept off for so long.
The wedding reaches a fever pitch of romance when Jacob (Taylor Lautner) shows up secretly at the ceremony and he and Edward have one of their burning-eyed confrontations on the subject of Bella's wellbeing. But the bride and groom head off happily enough for their honeymoon, in what appears to be a luxury hotel bungalow near Rio. Then, incredibly, the angstiness continues. The couple appear not to have considered the matters of condoms and birth control. Soon Bella is pregnant with a baby girl, and inevitably this brings Jacob and Edward closer together. Bella sweetly says she'll mix their moms' names to call her Renesmee. But Jacobward is the real story here.
Jacobward gets more and more stressed as the demi-vampire inside Bella grows at an alarming rate. Bella gets thin and gaunt. Then the wolf pack decide this vampire child is an intolerable future threat.
Fundamentally, this Twilight movie is yet another fantastically trying drama on the now very boring subject of wolves versus vampires and the consequent crisis of identity.

Jack and Jill

Adam Sandler plays Jack Sadelstein and Jill Sadelstein in this comedy. Adam is a well-known comedian and he has given us much laughter. However, to act as his own sister and to fake his voice 2 pitches higher will make watching this movie a bit annoying. Just like how annoying his sister is who decides to visit him during the Thanksgiving holidays. Adam tries to entertain his sister as best as he could. Some witty remarks, sexist as well as racist jokes thrown in to make this show funny. And later who tries to court Jill, none other than Al Pacino who plays himself!

11.11.11

11.11.11 gets all the hype because this date happens once in a century and the producer must have concocted the story based on the catching date itself. It started with famous US author Joseph Crone (Timothy Gibbs) losing his wife and child. Soon he discovers that strange events always occur at 11:11 a.m./ p.m. Later he receives a call from his pastor brother Samuel (Michael Landes) that their father is dying. and he flies to Barcelona, Spain to be reunited with his brother and father.
As the day of 11-11-11 approaches, events get weirder and weirder until the finale where a huge revealing twist is attempted but comes off looking incredibly incredulous.
See this show just to say you have watched 11.11.11 on 11.11.11.

Tower Heist

When watching The Other Guys, if you have the idea to get back on the schemers yourself, this is a movie on how. Arthur Shaw (Alan Alda) is a very wealthy owner of The Tower assisted by manager Kosh Kovacs (Ben Stiller). Unfortunately, like Bernard Madoff, Arthur absconded with all the Tower's pension money leaving all of them in the lurch. So, Kosh got all of the workers together and plot to get back their money. Movie reviews and critics

While efforts have been put in to make my movie reviews as neutral as possible, you can get more blazing reviews and critics from Roger Ebert, Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb.
Roger Ebert is a Pulitzer Prize winner film critic. He has also compiled his movie reviews into several books.
Rotten Tomatoes divides its review with a red tomato sign if it's a good movie or a green splat sign if it sucks.
IMDb in the meanwhile depends on its readers to put in their comments.

Anonymous

Anonymous questions the true identity of William Shakespeare. There are contentions that the son of an illiterate, provincial glover will not be able to write plays as brilliantly as someone who has connections with royalty. Therefore, many theories have arisen about who he really was and one of them is he was Edward de Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford. This movie argues for the 17th Earl's case.

In Time

If the world population is getting out of hand then this movie suggests that in the future a human's life is limited to 25 years . They will get an additional year to buy time to live forever. Therefore, the rich will be able to afford this but the poor need to beg, borrow and steal. A life clock is imbedded into each person's arm. Now, Will Salas comes in with being wrongly accused of murdering a century old man with another 100 years in his life bank. He was talking to the man when he fell asleep and found himself with an extra 100 years in his life clock. Will was unable to stop the century-old man from leaping to his death.
Is Will able to disentangle himself?

Paranormal Activity 3

The movie is about 2 kids, Katie and Kristi, who befriend an imaginery friend in their house. The filming is like the first two shows where it is someone holding the camera and recording their activities for family consumption. Since its opening Paranormal Activity 3 has been grossing $52.6m in revenue. This phenomenon is scary as it beats the PA1 and PA2.
There are bumps and false alarms so be prepared to sit through and try to scrutinise if you can spot "it" in all scenes.

Dolphin Tale

This movie is inspired by an amazing true story about a dolphin which gets entangled in a crab trap and loses its tail. She is rescued by a boy, Sawyer, and transported to the Clearwater Marine Hospital, where she is given the name Winter. A brilliant prostethics doctor (played by Morgan Freeman) then finds a way to fix Winter with a prosthetic tail. In the meantime, Sawyer forms a bond with the Winter.
In the movie, the real Winter plays itself. It is a symbol of courage, perseverance and hope to millions of people who have been touched by her remarkable story of recoverability and rehabilitation.

Ides of March

Stephen (Ryan Gosling) is a razor-sharp, rising star political media consultant working on Pennsylvania Governor Mike Morris' (George Clooney) campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination. Steve-o has only one man above him, overall campaign manager Paul (Philip Seymour Hoffman). The two consult each other daily. The governor has a single chief competitor, an Arkansas senator with his own astute adviser, Tom (Paul Giamatti). At the moment, the Ohio primary is looming and the staff is working out of Cincinnati. One of the governor's lower-level workers is beautiful Molly (Evan Rachel Wood), the daughter of the present head of the National Democratic Party. Only 20, she is just learning the ropes. One day, she makes a pass at Stephen and he responds positively. But, he makes it clear to her that politics is his passion and, especially, Mike Morris, his idol. Indeed, Morris is handsome, smart, and appears to speak sincerely and clearly to potential voters. Yet, very soon after their first encounter, Molly drops a bombshell on Stephen. It is a stunning piece of news, one that could knock the earth off its axis. Also, amazingly, Tom has been courting Stephen to "switch sides" while a respected, determined journalist, Ida (Marisa Tomei) is eager for any and all campaign stories. A cauldron of conflicting genuine and perceived realities is brewing. What will be the result? This is a fine film, based on a stage play, and directed by Mr. Clooney. While the story is more predictable in nature, the script has some great lines and Clooney's direction is quite, quite admirable. This is particularly true of the performances he draws from the cast, with Gosling, Hoffman, Giamatti, Tomei, Clooney himself, and especially Wood giving great turns.
This movie will remind you of  the upcoming presidential campaign in the United States.

The Green Hornet

The Green Hornet is not the serious Marvel heroes' movies like Spiderman, Captain America or Superman. Rather, there is a cynical side to it that the real hero Green Hero is a hopeless figure and depends on his sidekick, Kato solely.
The Hornet is Britt Reid (Rogen), the playboy son of a newspaper mogul (Wilkinson) who inherits his father's company after the old man succumbs to a bee sting. He also "inherits" his dad's mechanic and coffee-maker Kato (Chou), who turns out to be a genius.
They hatched the idea to be in the capes to fight crimes. There are plenty of laughs as Green Hornet tires to fight the bad guys only to be a hopeless until Kato intervenes.
As they become more well-known, Green Hornet begins to crow about his success leaving no credit to Kato. Naturally, both fight it out one night. Will this be the end of their liaison?

Paranormal Activity 2

This show has nothing to be scare about. If you feel your life is boring and you want to film it, then this is how it looks like. OK, so we won't have things that go bump in the day or night so that's the only tiny weeny difference here.
